Right Here, Right Now - Kilmainham Gaol, 2010
Right Here Right Now - Back There Back ThenRight Here, Right Now was a live exhibition of nineteen live performances. It took place in Kilmainham Gaol, Dublin on the 4th November 2010 from 6pm - 10pm. The live artists were: Catherine Barraghy, Michelle Browne, Fergus Byrne, Brian Connolly, Alex Conway, Amanda Coogan, Pauline Cummins, Francis Fay, Ann Maria Healy, Sandra Johnson, Sinead Mc Cann, Victoria Mc Cormack, Alastair Mac Lennan, Frances Mezzetti, Niamh Murphy & Meabh Redmond, Brian Patterson, Aine Philips, Dominic Thorpe and Helena Walsh. In the moment of its live becoming Right Here, Right Now asked for the embodied, intentional experience of the artists together with audience members at live event. As a mode of exploring this present time encounter after that present had elapsed, P.A.Live co-ordinated twenty additional artists to document their experience of Right Here Right Now. They were Cliodhna Shaffery, Simon Keogh, Joseph Carr, Adrian Duncan, Paolo Paz Yee, Laura Keogh, Tracy O'Brien, Pauline Clerkin, Alan Boardman, Johnny Salmon, Nicola Kennedy, Sebastian Dooris, John Lonergan,Barbara Knezevic, Maeve Mulreannan Margaret Byrne, Jenny Fitzgibbon, Enagh Farrell, Victoria Smith, Chrissie Cadman, Liz Burns and Magdalena Maria Wieckiewicz. These additional artists were invited to the exhibition as audience members, but charged with documenting their experience through photography and text. We asked them to engage with the live artworks for their full duration, noting them at intervals during this four hour live exhibition. We asked them particularly to engage with the live artworks at the beginning, middle and end to note any nuance or change. Their documentation, individual experiences of durational work, resulted in this new artwork Right Here, Right Now – Back There, Back Then.[1] Each chapter represents one live artwork. The artists are listed as live performance artist, writer and photographer. Live performance practice is one that is ontologically formed to disappear, This artwork does not make the live performance re-appear, but makes an effort to re-present them through the reflected experiences of writers and photographers.
